These days, it is more important than ever to definite your credibility and authority. In fact, digital marketing is evolving, and AI is currently at the helm. SEO has changed considerably, including what works and how to think about. As we enter into this new era, a strong brand and will get you far. Thought leadership is one of those items.

As it turns out, using the principals of SEO, you can strengthen your brand considerably. Boosting your thought leadership clout improves your SEO and vice versa. Thought leadership should now be considered an important part of your digital marketing strategy.

Using SEO to Build Trust Through Expertise

One of the biggest things we have seen is that search engines evaluate what is being said and who is saying it. On the surface, this may not look any different than it always ways. However, lately, the who is a very important piece of the puzzle. If search algorithms decide your voice is important, you’ll get noticed.

Technically, this doesn’t require that big of a shift. We always need to build trust through content and SEO. However, now the end results of this is amplified. The more of a thought leader that you are, the easier it is to get noticed in not only the search engines, but also in the AI-generated part of your searches.

You Can Elevate Content Beyond Keywords

There was a time when the default was to look at SEO as a technical checklist of items that need to be present on a website. While this is the case, and each of the technical elements still need to be looked at, such as site speed, meta information, internal linking, site structure, and more.

However, that’s no longer enough. . Search engines reward relevance not technical proficiency. If your brand is strong, and you are considered a thought leader in your field, you will be considered relevant. In a way, you are striving to boost your authority with your audience, and then in the meantime, you are also boosting your SEO.

Improve Visibility Through Earned Media

Thought leadership also extends beyond a company’s own channels. When executives publish opinion pieces, contribute to industry publications, or participate in podcasts and webinars, they build digital footprints across multiple platforms. Each of these creates brand mentions and authoritative backlinks, which is one of the strongest signals of credibility in search algorithms.

These offsite activities expand reach to new audiences and strengthen the brand’s perception as a leader. Over time, this creates a web of related content. This would include authoritative thought pieces, expert interviews, educational resources, articles published on the website and more. Each of these reinforce one another across the internet.  The result is not just higher visibility in search, but greater trust in the brand’s voice and expertise.

These days, one of the most important components of SEO is thought leadership. You can use the time-tested strategies of SEO to boost your thought leadership clout. This, in turn, will boost your SEO.
