Is It Time to Reassess Your Digital Marketing?

There comes a time in everyone’s business where reassessment is in order. For some, this means taking a look at the existing digital marketing strategy to make sure it is performing as well as it can. For others, it may mean starting a digital marketing program completely from scratch. Still, others may go through a digital marketing audit, only to realize that reassessing the business as a whole that is what is needed.

Each of them brings with it its own, unique set of clues. Whatever your business needs, it might be obvious. However, how do you really know when it is time to reassess your digital marketing, or even your business as a whole? Here’s a look at some cues.

Check Your Overall Data Periodically

Your goal is to find out if you need an overhaul before things get out of hand. You want to notice any dips before the issue becomes so noticeable that it could take a while to overcome. In the past, we’ve had clients who have had outdated business models. It could go either way. One client let things go for several years before they admitted they needed to make a change.

No matter what is going on in the business, whether the business needs to be overhauled or if marking jut needs to make a few, strategic changes, staying ahead of the data is key. You don’t want to be oblivious and then surprise two months after the issue started to show itself. It’s better to stay on top of things.

You May Not Be Achieving Your Business Goals

What is it that you need to achieve your business goals? More leads? More traffic? Whatever the answer to this question is, one thing is clear. You simply aren’t where you want to be. Why is this? There are some clues in your data. Here are some things to look at:

  • Your leads are down. Catch any lead dips (beyond seasonal patterns) early, and you could salvage the situation much sooner. When leads start to dip, making changes should be on your radar.
  • Existing leads aren’t converting. You have the leads; they just aren’t converting. Why? Is it lead quality or something else? Sometimes this could mean that you need to make some changes in the sales process, or maybe even improve lead quality. The point is, when leads aren’t converting it’s a sign that a change is needed.
  • Competitors have surged ahead. Are you competitors gaining more traction than you? You’ll want to understand why in order to discover the way forward.
  • There are changes in your industry. How good are you at adapting to changes? We all need to grow and evolve, and your business often needs to adapt in order to grow.

In other words, knowing when it is time to reassess may come down to one simple fact – you’re not where you want to be as a business. Then, the goal is to assess why. Can the problem be solved with marketing, is it time to make some business changes, or could it even be a combination of both? The answer is there in the data – you just need to look deep enough to see what the problem is.
