Content marketing is an interesting blend of precise analysis, sprinkled in with some big-picture thinking. Sure, you need to nail down the details of your content marketing strategy. However, if there are so many details that you’re getting bogged down and have no momentum, something needs to change. Momentum and consistency will always outweigh the strategy. However, the ideal scenario is having a mix of both – a great strategy and consistency and momentum. Here’s a closer look while developing momentum is so important.

Content Marketing is About the Long Game

One thing to keep in mind, is that content marketing thrives over the long term. This is where big picture thinking comes in. If you only see the details, you won’t really understand that momentum over time is what will really drive the results that you want. The pace isn’t too frenetic. You need to release content on a consistent basis so that results can thrive over time.

If you only release content on a sporadic basis, this doesn’t really give your content marketing a chance to succeed. The more content you have, the better, but even more than that, the more content you are able to release on a consistent basis, the better off you’ll be. Results tend to stack up over time.

Being Consistent Builds Trust

You want your audience to read and enjoy your content. However, unless you are consistent, there isn’t really a chance for them to do this. If they bump into a piece of yours that they really liked, chances are pretty good they want to see more of it. If they see that you release new content on a regular scheduled, they will return to read more of it. This consistency builds trust.

What happens if they don’t see new content posted regularly? At best, they will just forget about you. At worse, you will lose their trust. Posting content regularly builds trust, and you want to take advantage of this. People use products and services from brands they trust.

Create Momentum to Maximize Results

Simply plum you want to build momentum, in order to create the results you really want. We have already discussed that consistency is great for your audience. However, it is also good for other things – like increasing traffic, particularly organic traffic. The more pieces you release over time, the more traffic will naturally flow to you.

This is especially true on a website. If you consistently post on your blog, and then share it on social media, this builds momentum through consistency. It also gives you more of a chance to experience good search engine results. The more content you have posted, the more chances you have of being returned for relevant searches. This is the core of why consistency is so important, and it is what makes content marketing such a foundational activity for digital marketing.

As you can see, consistency is so important for content marketing. You don’t need to go crazy. Even posting once a week can help you make serious strides!
