Think Beyond Traffic to Boost Your Results

How do you measure results as to the success of your marketing, particularly your digital marketing? There was a time when your website’s traffic was a reliable measurement of how well your campaigns were performing. That’s still true to an extent, but not in the way it used to be. There are other markers of success, and most of these reflect the needs of our audience.
We don’t need to chase traffic. Not even close. We need to have a cohesive message that ties all of our marketing elements together, and we need to do so in a way that resonated with our audiences. This is the real way to boost results. Here’s more information about this:
Focus on Alignment not Volume
Where brands go wrong is focusing purely on volume when it comes to attracting visitors to the site. Volume isn’t inherently a bad thing. Technically speaking, the more eyes that see your website the better. The issue isn’t in the end result, it’s in what happened to get the result.
Volume is only unproductive when alignment wasn’t a factor. In fact, volume of traffic shouldn’t be the focus – alignment should be. How well would your efforts resonate with your target audience? That’s the question to answer not the other way around. Taking a traffic-first approach produces traffic that would, at least in part, miss the mark.
Build Content that Pleases Your Audience
On the surface, it may seem as if we have a lot to think about when it comes to created content. Well, that is only on the surface. The real truth is that we should always prioritize creating content that resonates with our audience. Even if we are balancing multiple objectives, the audience should always be first.
For example, we can always align a piece of content with the sales goal, but it will always need to please the audience first. Content won’t achieve its objective unless the audience is happy. Audience will always be first. This works with just about any goal that you could have for your content. It won’t work to help you achieve the goal unless your audience likes it!
Consider Trust Factors Beyond Traffic
Flooding your website with traffic doesn’t do much to build trust, Yet, it’s this sense of trust that makes a real difference between you achieving your goals and not achieving them. People want to do business with those whom they trust. Attracting the wrong audience to your website because you focused on traffic volume as a core objective won’t build trust.
In way, trust factors also foster alignment between you and your audience. Content such as case studies, testimonials, and data-backed insights go a long way to nurturing the audience and making them feel confident in your expertise. On the surface, though, this isn’t the type of content people prioritize because it doesn’t bring in large traffic numbers. Building trust is far more important than traffic.
Focusing on traffic volume is not the right approach for digital marketing. You need your marketing efforts to align with your audience!
