Are Your Expectations for Digital Marketing Realistic?

Written by Nick Stamoulis

It is a natural thing to be excited about a new adventure that will ultimately result in you getting more organic traffic. It doesn’t matter what kind of business you have, whether your website is new or has been around for a while, or if you are completely new to digital marketing or not. The strategies that we use to help our clients can help everyone, no matter what the situation is.

However, it is just impossible to say when these results will occur. That is why it is so important to have realistic expectations. If your expectations aren’t realistic, this could set you up for failure. You need to have patience and stick with it long enough for the results to kick in. Here’s more information about this:

Enthusiasm Doesn’t Make Results Happen Any Faster

The problem is that it doesn’t matter how enthusiastic you are. It takes a while for all the pieces to fit together. It could take months before you even start to see positive signs of the plan working. It could be even longer than that before the results make a significant improvement.

This is totally normal. It takes a while before you see the results that you want. As long as you keep working the problem consistently, you will get where you want to be. We see this all the time. People start out with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. This is a great emotion to have, but often those who are excited will have expectations that simply can’t be met. The program will work, but it’s just unpredictable as to how quickly. You will get results at the right time, when everything comes together, and unfortunately we can’t predict when this is.

Results Can’t Be Pushed

As long as you are working the program consistently, this is all you need to get the results you want. Aside from that, there is nothing else that you can do that will make your results come any faster. You can’t push the results to happen faster, not if you want to do them correctly. You might be thinking, maybe I can create a social media post that will go viral, or maybe start interacting with people to get others to interact with our content.

The issue with this mindset is, your can’t force people to engage with your brand. You can prompt them by doing all the right things, but if you want to truly attract the right audience, this takes time and patience. If you start trying to manipulate results, it can hurt you over the long term. You want to do it right so that your results can be long lasting. You don’t want to use tactics that might not work, or worse, use tactics that might be considered shady.

If you do want to get results while waiting for your organic program to kick in, you might want to consider incorporating social media advertising or pay per click advertising. That way, you can start getting traffic and leads before your results kick in.
