Success with your digital marketing is something that won’t happen overnight. It takes strategic alignment with business goals, consistency, and working as efficiently as possible to implement the strategies to get things moving.

Much of digital marketing can feel unglamorous, and waiting for results can be frustrating. It’s difficult to maintain consistency, especially in the early phase when it might not seem like anything is working. So, how do you really know if your digital marketing strategy is working? Here’s a look at how you can tell.

Website Traffic Growth Is Steady

One has to be careful measuring something like website traffic because in general, traffic doesn’t mean that you’re reaching the right audience who will embrace what you’re offering. However, it’s still a good indicator that the strategy is at least starting to work. In an ideal world, you will be aligning with your audience through your strategy, but there is still a lot that goes into achieving productive growth in this area.

However, you should have a general sense that your traffic is steadily increasing, and this is something you can determine in the earlier days of having implemented the strategy. A lot more will go into assessing if things are resonating, but traffic growth is an early start.

Engagement Rate Has Increased

Engagement is one of those signs that shows that people are actually resonating with your marketing plan. Are people engaging with your content? If they are, it could show that your message is hitting the core of your audience in a great way. It means they like what they see.

If you share something online, such as posting an article or something on social media, you should have some kind of indication that people are reading and enjoying it. Signals like likes and comments, sharing articles across platforms,  messaging your business to comment on something you posted, re-sharing a social media post – these are all signs that your digital marketing strategy is starting to take root.

High Quality Leads Start Coming Through

One of the biggest signs of success related to digital marketing is if you’re actually getting warm leads. After all, the main function of marketing is that it should be increasing your business. If it is doing that, you’ll start to see an uptick in leads. It’s the number one indicator that the strategy you put together is working, and this is also why marketing and business alignment are both so important.

If the leads that are coming in are somehow slightly off from what you expect your target audience to be, that is also a sign. It shows that your digital marketing strategy may not be resonating with your audience in the way that you hoped.

If you thoughtfully created your digital marketing strategy in the first place, chances are pretty good that you’ll eventually have some results to show for it. Yet, it is still validating to know that things are on the right track, which you can do by observing these signs.
