Enhance Blogger Outreach Efforts with These Tactics

Enhance Blogger Outreach Efforts with These TacticsThere are many benefits to guest blog posting. It’s a way to showcase your expertise on another industry site in order to gain visibility where your target audience members are spending time. In most cases a guest blogger is allowed a short author bio at the end of the post. This is a great place to put a link back to your website. It’s best practice to “nofollow” this link so that the post doesn’t just appear as a way to manipulate your search rank, but is there to drive traffic back to your site.

When you share content on another blog, the link will be shared with their social connections and can earn you some new social followers as well. Some blogs are pickier than others when it comes to whom they allow to guest post on their site. In most cases- the pickier the better! Before inquiring about a guest posting opportunity it’s a smart idea to get on the good side of the blog owner first. If they recognize your name they are more likely to read your guest blog pitch.

Here are 4 ways to enhance your blogger outreach efforts:

Become a member of the site

Some industry sites that you find might have a membership component. It’s usually free and easy to sign up and become a member of the community. You might even be able to create a profile with background information and a link to your website. Sign up for the newsletter and download some of the whitepapers that members have access to in order to get a better feel for the types of content that the site typically publishes.

Leave comments on blog posts

No matter what industry you are in it’s important to stay current with industry trends and read industry publications. Read blog posts that others have written on the site and leave relevant comments whenever you have anything to contribute. There’s no need to comment every day. That can be annoying. However, you should comment every so often to keep your name on the radar of the blog owner whenever you have something to add to the conversation.

Share their content with your social network

As you browse the site and leave comments on interesting blog posts, take it a step further by sharing these posts with your social network. Social sharing is an extremely important way to market a business online today. If a blog owner sees you sharing their content they will be more likely to help you out in some way. They might start sharing your content too, which will open the door for a discussion about guest posting on the site.

Maintain your own blog

The first thing that a blogger will do before determining whether you should be allowed to guest post on their site is to check out your blog. You can’t expect to become a guest blogger if you aren’t already blogging on your own. Your blog should be current and updated on a regular basis. It should serve as evidence that you have a proven track record of writing great industry content.
