Common Reasons Why SEO Success Isn’t Happening

Written by Nick Stamoulis

What SEO clients need to understand about SEO is that it’s a process. It takes time to begin to see the results of your efforts. However, if after six months of SEO work you still don’t see any kind of improvement, it could be because you are making common mistakes that are limiting the amount of SEO success that you have. SEO is only going to work if the process moves forward at an appropriate pace. Anytime the process is stopped it is also going to further delay when the results will be seen. If you’ve been working at SEO for months and haven’t seen any sort of traction, check to see if you are guilty of any of the following:

Not providing feedback to your SEO firm

While the SEO team that is handling your account is experienced in SEO, then they probably aren’t an expert in your industry, which is why the team needs to receive feedback and constructive advice for every step along the process to ensure that they are on the right track. Each step needs to be completed properly before the next one can begin. For example, if the keyword research isn’t on target, it will result in on site optimization recommendations that aren’t on target either which isn’t going to help to deliver the right kind of traffic to the site.

Not implementing all recommendations

There are many options when it comes to deciding who will be responsible for SEO. You can hire an in house SEO Specialist or SEO team, outsource the work to an SEO firm, or hire a consultant to lay out a strategy that will be executed by the in house marketing team. What can be dangerous about going the consultant route is that sometimes the recommendations don’t get implemented as they should or as often as they should. This can even happen if you have an in house SEO team or outsource to a full service SEO firm. It might be up to the web developer to implement the on site recommendations, and maybe it’s not high on their priority list. If the changes aren’t made ASAP or only some of the changes are made, it can halt SEO campaign success.

Not creating content

Content has become a huge component of an SEO campaign. You aren’t going to get by simply by doing on site optimization and then submitting your site to directories to build links. SEO doesn’t work like that anymore. It’s all about building natural links back to your site and the only way that people are going to naturally link to your site or share anything in social media that relates to your company is if you are publishing useful content on a regular basis. Content creation can be difficult. There’s no denying that. If you don’t have the in house man-power to create content, it can be outsourced but guidance it still required. You will still need to provide the topic ideas and the resources that are necessary to write something compelling.
