A page view is also known as a page impression and is a request from a web user to load a particular web page (or HTML file) on the Internet. Each time that a visitor reaches a page or hits reload after reaching a page, it is counted as an additional page view. A unique page view aggregate page views that are generated by the same user during the same session.
Website owners can monitor page view information using an website analytics program, like Google Analytics. This data is helpful when changing web page content to determine the success of the new content. It can show whether a change in the page resulted in more or less visits to that page.
Page view information can also help online marketers measure the success of online marketing campaigns that are sending visitors to a particular page. If the number of page views doesn’t change much, there is a flaw in the campaign and it needs to be fixed in order to get more people to click over to that particular page of content.
