Focus on one link at a time
It’s recommended to outline a 12 month link building strategy so that you know what activities should get done and when. It helps to keep things organized. Depending on the age/trust of the website, the industry, and competition you could be aiming to build anywhere from 10-50 (or higher) links a month. Looking at that spreadsheet each month, it can seem like a lot of work. However if you break it down and focus on building one to three links a day it doesn’t seem so overwhelming anymore. Write a few blog comments one day, submit a press release that includes a few links another day, and add/update a local profile on another day. Set aside a small amount of time each day and the work will be done before you know it.
Add content writing to your schedule
Content is a huge component of SEO today. The content that you publish is what gets crawled and indexed by the search engines and improves your social signals. Incorporating an active blog to your website is a great SEO tactic, but many business owners and marketers complain that there just isn’t enough time to write content. While it’s ideal to add a new blog post every day, it’s understandable that that’s just not possible for many businesses. Instead, focus on one a week and build it into the schedule of the blogger so that they have a specific time each week that should be spent on writing. An editorial calendar helps to keep things organized.
Utilize social media tools
Like content marketing, social media is also now an important component of an SEO campaign. It’s important to utilize social media to promote content and engage with others. It’s necessary to monitor social media and respond to fans/followers but some social media activities can be scheduled ahead of time. Using a tool like Hootsuite, you can schedule social media posts ahead of time. That way, when things get busy or you know that you won’t be at your desk, your social accounts aren’t suffering.
With the right amount of knowledge, it’s true that anyone can execute SEO activities. Taking it day by day makes it a much less daunting task.
