5 Tips to Keep Your Content Constant

Writing by Brick Marketing in Content Marketing

Content is an extremely important component of an Internet marketing and SEO campaign. Inbound marketing tactics (like publishing informative content) consistently prove to be effective in attracting consumer attention. For SEO purposes, each piece of content that is well optimized for the search engines improves the chances of being found on a search engine results page. In order for a content marketing strategy to be successful, it needs to be ongoing. Don’t think that you can get away with publishing one or two white papers a year. Of course, content marketing is a time consuming endeavor. Here are 5 tips for keeping your content constant:

Hire a Writer or Outsource
Content development takes time. It’s important to be realistic about how it’s going to get done. As a business or website owner, if you aren’t going to be able to commit to doing it yourself you will need to hire someone else to do it for you. Hiring a full or part time writer is one solution, but may not be necessary. Outsourcing the work is an option since good writers can write just about anything with the right amount of guidance. This of course excludes any technical writing or legal or medical writing.

Create an Editorial Calendar
When it comes to creating content, it’s important to plan ahead. At the beginning of each month, plan out what content will be published that month, where, and who will be creating it. If an editorial calendar is staring you in the face, you will be less likely to avoid the responsibility.

Think Small
Each piece of content doesn’t need to be a grand masterpiece. If you over think a content marketing strategy you will psych yourself out and get flustered. Obviously content needs to be valuable but if you can get your point across in 300-500 words there is nothing wrong with that. In fact, it may be preferred. People don’t have unlimited time to read your content and a short piece may be more likely to get the attention of target audience members.

Repurpose
Use one topic and repurpose it into multiple formats. Turn a blog post into a video. Turn an article into an infographic. You get the point. People like to receive information in different formats. As long as you aren’t publishing it all at the same time, it’s a great way to get the most out of your content.

Keep Your Eye on the Prize
Content marketing is meant to build awareness and trust over the long term. While it may be tempting, it’s important to not get frustrated and give up on content marketing efforts. In today’s competitive online environment, content is absolutely necessary to come out on top.
