How to Improve B2B Content Exposure
Writing by Brick Marketing in B2B SEO Marketing
If you work for or own a company in the B2B sector, you’ve likely heard of the benefits of content marketing. B2B decision makers are looking for as much information before signing on the dotted line or handing over a payment. This is especially true if your business is somewhat complex in nature and it takes some time for an outsider to learn what it is that you do and how your business can help solve any business issue that they are having. The content that is produced helps a B2B prospect become more comfortable with your business and more likely to convert.

When a business gets involved in content marketing as part of a B2B SEO strategy, the first thing that needs to be done is to hire a copywriter or a copywriting team. B2B content needs to be professional and these duties shouldn’t be handed off to an amateur. Once the copywriter or team starts creating some nice content, the work has really only begun. B2B content doesn’t get noticed magically. In order to get the most exposure to your B2B content you will need to do the following:
Optimize it
Content optimization is essential in order to gain long term exposure. It’s important to consider SEO when creating any content. Choose specific long tail keywords that you’d like to rank for and build content using those keywords. Of course, you don’t want to “over optimize” your B2B content either. Readers are always the top priority. If your keyword is found in every other sentence it doesn’t provide a good user experience.
Share it in social media
Optimizing content is a strategy to get content noticed over the long term as it builds traction in the search engines. Social media promotion is to generate traffic in the short term. Of course, getting people to click on your content in social media is only going to work if you have a social media strategy and a following. This can take time to build. The key is to be active on the right social networks that target audience members are actually spending time on. For B2B, LinkedIn is often the most beneficial along with niche industry networks.
Share it elsewhere
In order to expand the reach of your content, it’s important to post it in locations other than on the web properties that you own. Guest blogging is a great strategy in the B2B sector. Spend some time researching other blogs in your niche and inquire about guest posting opportunities. This will improve visibility among those that are interested in your industry and help generate traffic back to your website or blog.
Repurpose it
Just because you wrote a blog post on a particular topic doesn’t mean that that topic is now off limits. You can use the information that you found while researching to write the original post to create B2B content that appears in other formats. For example, a blog post can be used as inspiration to create a video, an infographic, a white paper, or an eBook. People like to consume information in different formats and by creating different types of content there is a better chance of it getting noticed.
